Slow Stitching with Diana

— by

Slow stitching is intended to help the participants slow down and enjoy life. If you like the look and feel of fabric, this could be right for you! Regardless, anyone is able to make creative choices and engage in this activity. Choose the fabrics, lay them side by side or on top, pin into place, choose a thread colour and stitch. Decide whether to go around each shape or back and forth with running stitch. Take your time, but dont worry about mistakes; breath as you pull the thread through and be aware of your surroundings, grateful for life.

It’s your design- there is no ‘wrong stitch’ use large or small, crooked, straight or curved lines, the choice is yours.  I tend to go abstract but sometimes it turns into a picture. Work by instinct, keep going until it feels ‘complete’.

A piece of slow stitching could be placed in a book, framed and displayed on the wall or made into a useful article – you are only limited by your imagination. Perhaps you have a worn garment that needs repair or has a stain, why not stitch on it.

I will be online leading a workshop periodically. Check me out at Handcrafts with Diana in FB. You can see examples of my work- in progress below. Only the needle case is complete.
